Shape Homes started using PSI this year, lodging their first jobs in March. We spoke to Vicki, Administration Manager at Shape Homes to find out if PSI has helped their team over the last few months and here’s what she had to say!
About Shape Homes
Shape Homes are a fast growing, up and coming building company, on a mission to be Melbourne's preferred medium density builder. Some of their major projects include Prospect & The Walter in Pascoe
Vale and Hadfield respectively. Founded in 2017, Shape’s team has grown from 2 to 9 staff, with 30 staff forecasted by the end of the year.
Shape Homes faced challenges
Building houses requires a lot of admin work which can slow down teams. Sourcing information from many different authorities is very difficult to do manually.
As we see land becoming more scarce, medium density builders are becoming more prominent. Councils are requesting more houses to be built on subdivisions so they can maximise the use of land. This results in taking on even more paperwork.
Until recently, Shape Homes, like the majority of the industry had to rely on tedious status’ logged in spreadsheets, or managed by calendar reminders.
Vicki told us, “Trying to collate all the information from different sources is very difficult. The administration team has a lot of tasks to complete. Doing this manually is time consuming and means we need a lot of processes to be in place.”

Shape Homes uses PSI to order Land Titles, Planning Advice, Building Information 51(2), Legal Point of Discharge, Asset Plans and Sewer Plans. Usually you would need to visit at least 3 websites and place 6 separate orders with
6 separate transactions to receive this information.
This results in at least 45 minutes of filling in forms, then your accounts team wasting time reconciling 6 invoices. The follow-on effect may be hours spent chasing councils if your information doesn’t come back on time. That’s if you can remember that you ordered it!
